Attention & cognitive control


The Stroop task measures how well you can control your attention and inhibit information and responses that are unrelated to your goals. Reading text comes naturally for most of us, but indicating the color of text while ignoring the actual text is unnatural.

This task is often used to study cognitive control, executive control, or executive function. These processes support flexible, adaptive responses, and complex goal-directed behavior and thought.
